After breakfast, leave Fes and begin your journey toward the Sahara Desert. Travel through the spectacular Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through Ifrane and the cedar forests of the region before continuing south through changing mountain and valley landscapes. As you travel deeper into southeastern Morocco, the scenery gradually transforms from green mountain landscapes into arid desert terrain. Continue toward Merzouga, where the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi rise dramatically from the surrounding desert. In the late afternoon, begin your camel trek into the dunes.
